Job Description:
Job Purpose:
The Defence Signal Processing expert is responsible to the Technical Director for managing and supporting bids and projects, and supporting the wider activities of the Division and group.
The role will be to:
- With the Technical Director and appropriate Business Executive, develop the Company’s radar, sonar, communications and EW capabilities.
- Undertake research and development into radar, sonar, communications and EW systems.
- Undertake the responsibilities of Project Manager.
- Undertake the responsibilities of Bid Manager.
- Provide managerial and technical support to other bids and projects as directed.
- Undertake personal training and development as agreed with Business Executive at the annual appraisal meeting.
- Promote the company brand and reputation in accordance with the marketing strategy.
Key Result Areas:
1. Develop (10%) and deliver (60%) the Company’s systems and signal processing capability relating to radar, sonar, communications and EW capabilities by:
- Work with the Business Executives to harness the existing skills across the Company and develop the capability.
- Work with the Technical Director and Business Development Executives to identify radar, sonar, communications and EW opportunities.
- Providing advice and consultancy to radar, sonar, communications and EW related projects.
- Identify and execute risk reduction activities.
2. Undertake the responsibilities of Project Manager [1] (15%):
- Manage the production of the required products.
- Direct and motivate the project team.
- Plan and monitor the project.
3. Undertake the responsibilities of Bid Manager (10%):
- Drafting and submitting Expressions of Interest.
- Drafting and submitting Pre-Qualification Questionnaires.
- Drafting responses to Invitations-to-Tender.
4. Provide managerial and technical support to other bids and projects as directed (10%).
5. Undertake personal training and development as agreed with Technical Director at the annual appraisal meeting (5%).
6. Promote the company brand and reputation in accordance with the marketing strategy.
- Attend promotional events as directed.
- Generate professional papers and promotional material as directed.
Operational Standards and Objectives:
- Work is to comply with the Company Management System and the Company Quality System as applied through the Project Management and Quality Plans.
- Carry out bid management work in compliance with the Company Management System.
- Work is to be carried out to customer satisfaction and not attract customer complaint.
- Ensure all bid inputs and deliverables are in line with agreed schedules and the content is in line with requirements for bid reviews and approvals.
Training:
- Training will be provided for specific skills need to support particular projects.
- Training will be provided as part of the post holder career development needs as identified and discussed as part of the annual appraisal process.
Reporting Line
The jobholder will report to the Technical Director, Defence Division, for career and welfare matters.
Job Location
The job will be located in the Beckington office.
