Job Title: Technician
Reporting to: Workshop Foreman

Primary Job Function:
To carry out service and repair work efficiently and competently to the required level of quality and within the standard time allocated and additional duties as specified below.

Key Responsibilities:
• Testing of vehicles and diagnosing faults using knowledge, experience and appropriate equipment.
• Servicing and repairing of vehicles or their components using equipment and tools in a safe and correct manner.
• Carrying out MOT inspect tests and carrying out necessary repairs to the required standards.
• Liaison with the Parts Department to ensure correct parts are issued to enable job to be completed efficiently and within the requirement timescale.
• All vehicles being repaired are handled carefully and good care is taken whilst they are in the custody of the workshop.
• All relevant job cards, paperwork and records are completed to the required standard in a timely manner.
• Where applicable participate in the “out of hours” standby/call out rotas.
• Working overtime as and when required, to satisfy customer needs.
• All aspects of ISO, H&S and Environmental regulations are adhered to including the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
• Ensure product knowledge and skills are maintained, kept updated and in line with company requirements.
• Attendance at training courses when identified and as required.
• Preparing technical reports and updating technical data.

Skills:
• Good diagnostics skills - Essential
• Proven technical qualifications - Essential
• Driving licence (HGV licence would be and advantage) - Desirable • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines - Essential
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. – Essential
• Minimum 2 years Experience working on any form of AUTOMOTIVE 'diesel engines' - I.E LGV's, and Trucks would be advantageous - ESSENTIAL

Measurement of Performance:
Whilst measuring of all aspects of job function performance will be ongoing, a formal annual objective setting process will be utilised at the beginning of each year with a focused formal appraisal being undertaken at least once a year, usually year end, when achievement of the agreed job function objectives will be reviewed. Ideally a mid-year interim review will also be held.
