Job Description:

Job Purpose:
To improve and enhance the commercial effectiveness of the Division, through working together with Bid and Project Managers, project teams and through personal contribution.
Support the Commercial Director in business and financial planning, developing business opportunities, maximising profitability and minimising commercial risk.

Key Result Areas:
1. Contract Management (35%)
• Conduct detailed reviews of Contracts and other relevant commercial documents
• Support Project Boards (PRINCE2) in accordance with delegated authority
• Undertake all necessary post contract agreements and administration
• Agree and place sub-contracts
• Undertake commercial management of sub-contractors
• Agree and issue internal Project Orders and budgets
• Participate in Kick-off and lifecycle meetings, including Highlights Review and Exception Reports
• Liaise with the project and bid managers and deal with commercial/contractual matters as they arise
• Apply and negotiate Contract Change Notes (CCN)
• Undertake financial control and cash collection duties when deemed necessary
• Complete all relevant Contract closure administration
• Define framework contracts and establish them with key customers

2. Commercial Proposals (20%)

• Conduct commercial risk assessments and define pricing strategy
• Develop commercial proposals and pricing structures
• Support teaming arrangements and seek competitive quotations
• Complete detailed pricing activities
• Complete milestone/cash flow parameters
• Liaise with Technical Bid Manager
• Issue proposals and manage follow-up and clarification matters
• Undertake all audit trail administration

3. Commercial Administration (20%)
• Complete bid and project administration activities
• Ensure that payment of “queried” invoices are received
• Undertake all miscellaneous commercial business correspondence
• Ensure completion of bid pricing & approval and logic sheets

4. Financial Management (10%)
• Write budget variance and project cost reports
• Complete WIP forecasts and profit releases
• Input into business financial reporting (including backlogs, order intake and budgets)

5. Divisional Management (15%)
• Develop commercial strategy and develop plans including such elements as the exploitation of Intellectual Property Rights
• Assess Divisional commercial risks and develop plans to reduce risk and increase yield
• Participate in company’s Commercial Executive Committee
• Contribute to the development of business processes 

6. Essential Skills 
• Must have previous experience in similar role
• You are required to have security clearance or be eligible to do so
• Must be PRINCE2 or APM qualified.
• Worked within the ISTAR program sector
• Have a full understanding and proven experience with financial planning (bids and budget systems)
